Yamaha Motor Canada Announces Mechanical Control F300

Published By: Jonathan Lee

Yamaha Motor Canada has announced a new mechanical control version of its 4.2-litre F300 V6 outboard, available in both left and right-hand rotation.

Boaters seeking to re-power can now opt for the Yamaha’s powerful 4.2-litre, V6 mechanical F300, without necessarily needing to change over to a new control box. This offers them a more economical solution for workboats or other craft where digital control is not needed or desired.

The F300 joins Yamaha’s mechanical control outboards, which includes the F150, F175, F200, F225 and F250 models.

“Offering a wide range of outboard choices ensures Yamaha continues to provide our customers with the best possible experiences on the water,” says Jean-Francois Rioux, National Manager, Marine, Yamaha Motor Canada.

Whether boaters opt for digital electronic control or mechanical control for the F300, each offer the same features, power and performance. Yamaha’s 4.2-litre models offer big-bore V6 displacement with plasma-fused sleeveless cylinders that increase displacement without enlarging the outer diameter of the cylinder bores. This technology also helps reduce weight.

Yamaha’s V6 Offshore Mechanicals are more than 50 pounds lighter than the company’s venerable 3.3-litre V6s. In addition, they are said to offer improved low- and mid-range punch and better fuel efficiency.

An electronically controlled single throttle valve and precision multi-point electronic fuel injection make these outboards up to 17 percent more fuel efficient.

Re-power customers have a wide array of super quiet Yamaha SDS propellers to choose from, including the Saltwater Series II with SDS and the Saltwater Series HS4 with SDS.

Yamaha’s patented Shift Dampener System distributes and absorbs the forces and the resulting sounds and vibrations that are normally associated with shifting an outboard into gear.

Expected availability of Yamaha’s new 4.2-litre F300 V6 Mechanical model is Summer 2017.
