Toronto Boat Show Raises Over $42,000 for Marine Charities

Published By: Jonathan Lee

Playing a role in enhancing the life of children, the disabled and the partially sighted or blind, Canadian Boat Shows, presented a cheque in the amount of $42,215 to three Ontario marine charities on May 9. Funds were raised on Preview Day, just prior to the general public opening of the Toronto International Boat Show in January.

The funds will be split between Toronto Star Fresh Air Fund; Ontario Sailing’s Access Boom Program; and CNIB’s Lake Joseph Centre. This year’s charity proceeds exceed Canadian Boat Show’s efforts in 2016 by a little more than seven percent.

Playing a large role in generating the donations was Preview Day’s big-ticket auction item, a 19-foot Sea Ray power by a MerCruiser inboard engine donated by Pride Marine Group.

Over the course of 16 years, TIBS has raised more than $796,000 for initiatives that are close to the hearts of the boating community.

Next year’s Toronto International Boat Show Preview Day takes place on Friday, January 12, 2018.
