EdgeWater Launches New 262 Crossover

EdgeWater Power Boats, has announced its new 262CX Deep-V Crossover offshore model. The fibreglass boat builder is a premier builder of center consoles, crossover and express models.

EdgeWater’s new 262CX Deep-V will be on display at the upcoming 2017 Miami International Boat Show (February 16 to 20) as well as the 2017 New England Boat Show in Boston (February 11 to 19).
 
The new boat features Single Piece Infusion (SPI) construction and will be powered by twin Yamaha F200 four-stroke outboards. This new design is said to improve upon EdgeWater’s 248CX model, but operates in a class all its own.

The 262CX takes EdgeWater’s popular Dual Console/Crossover design incorporates a double-wide helm and generous sightlines through its ClearView windshield. The dash features yacht styling and is large enough to accommodate a 16-inch Garmin chartplotter. A new sleek integrated hardtop shelters the helm.

The starboard console contains a finished head compartment, a highly sought after feature for longer voyages. Inside the port console is a spacious storage compartment with many available options, including racks for wakeboards or dive tanks. Thanks to its standard dive door, the 262CX can serve as a platform for scuba diving, snorkeling and other water sports.

This new model also features a redesigned bow seating area with plusher amenities, including a double-wide forward-facing lounge with built-in armrests. The forward storage boxes are insulated and have an efficient new design with a remote latch system.

In its spacious cockpit, the 262CX showcases EdgeWater’s all-new, back-to-back Ultra Lounger, which incorporates an insulated fishbox and offers multiple seating positions.

To starboard, the prep station also is a modern design with many different configurations. Standard items include an insulated cooler, cutting board, stainless steel sink and a pullout cooler. Options include grill, refrigerator and cabinet. Aft, there’s a full, transom-width foldout seat as well as a large transom baitwell.

Single Piece Infusion Process
EdgeWater’s proprietary SPI construction process consists of vinylester resin that is vacuum-infused into the builder’s grid structures and the hull laminate in one step. By infusing them together, resin molecules in the grid are said to harden at the exact same time as the resin in the fibreglass laminate, making it bond as one piece. EdgeWater says SPI achieves a strength-to-weight ratio greater than open-molded, polyester boats (based on test results provided by Owens Corning). The boat builder also says SPI technology helps to produce better handling, performance, fuel efficiency and range.
