VanDutch Brand Comes to Canada

Published By: Jonathan Lee

Friday Harbour All Season’s Resort in Barrie, Ontario is now Canada’s exclusive dealer for VanDutch watercraft. The $1.5 billion community marina development will become the site of a VanDutch lounge, where visitors can enjoy food, music and entertainment to the backdrop of Lake Simcoe.

“We’ve had Canada on our mind for some time and Friday Harbour Resort offers us the opportunity to bring our brand to a growing market,” says Reed Nicol, Director of Operations for VanDutch’s global brand.

The Friday Harbour Resort project will see the construction of some 2,000 residences, a 1,000-slip full-service marina, 40 storefronts, a spa, beach club and an 18-hole championship golf course. Community boardwalk condos and flats start at $300,000, marina townhomes start at $1 million, island townhomes start at $1.3 million, and Ferretti towns on the water’s edge start at $1.4 million.
“Friday Harbour’s creators are very reputable developers in the Toronto and Ontario market. Everything at the marina and surrounding area encompasses the VanDutch lifestyle. Friday Harbour appears to be a microcosm of everything we look for in our brand, in a market we haven’t been to yet. Opening a sales centre here puts us right in the ‘thick’ of where we want to be.”

For now, VanDutch will be selling its range of 31- to 72-foot vessels factory direct. However, Nicols says that could change. “Until we acquire dealers, VanDutch will operate factory direct.”

Qualified consumers interested in the brand can contact Nicols ( to arrange factory tours and tests. “We are taking leads to our Miami office at the moment,” he elaborates.

Staffing for VanDutch’s Canadian sales office is still being built. “We still working on assembling our service and maintenance staff as well as client relations personnel,” add Nicols. “The Canadian location will be managed by someone from our Miami office.”

Nicols expects the VanDutch sales office to be open by this summer.

The premium Dutch brand is designed by Frank Mulder. VanDutch also has a list of celebrity customers, including Leonardo DiCaprio, David Backham, Mark Cuban and Simon Cowell.
