Yamaha Introduces Two New WaveRunners For 2011

Published By: Craig Ritchie

Yamaha Motor Canada has introduced a pair of new WaveRunner models described as “the industry’s first value-priced, ultra high performance personal watercraft.”

The all-new Yamaha VXR and VXS WaveRunners feature Yamaha’s 1812cc, four-cylinder four-stroke marine engine, combined with an ultra lightweight hull and deck made from NanoXcel material engineered using nanotechnology to be stronger and lighter than competing models. The new WaveRunners are said to set a new benchmark for performance, agility and fun on the water at an affordable price.

“The VX series has always been a leader for us in terms of value and affordability. Canadian customers will still get that with the new VXR and VXS, but talk about a performance upgrade.” said Rick Layzell, Yamaha’s National Manager, Marine and OPE.

“We used our existing 1812cc engine, the largest displacement in the industry, and combined it with a lightweight compact platform,” says Rioux.  “As a result, we met our benchmark for performance without having to use any add-ons like a super-charger or intercooler. So the price stays very competitive while the performance is a well ahead of comparable PWC’s on the market.”

Rioux further notes that the company’s sport-minded FZ Series gets all new colours and graphics for 2011.
